Ball Tricep Exercises

Tricep exercises proposed here are performed using a single exercise ball, also known as swiss ball or gym ball.

These tricep exercises are accompanied by two-frame images showing you the correct form, as well as notes and comments on each.

  1. Tricep Extension
  2. Standing Tricep Extension
  3. Weighted Tricep Extension

Tricep Extension

Tricep Extension
  • The classic tricep extension is performed here using an exercise ball, in which you pretty much perform a push-up with your hands resting on top of the ball.

  • Contrary to a normal push-up however, you'll bring your hands in close to each other so that the main muscle group exercised is your tricep, with the remaining input going to your chest and shoulder muscles.

Standing Tricep Extension

Standing Tricep Extension
  • The standing tricep extension exercise is different in that you are standing up and pressing the exercise ball against the wall, as opposed to laying your hands on top of it.

  • As with the typical tricep extension listed above you'll want to bring in your hands close to each other so that the bulk of the exercise targets your triceps.

Weighted Tricep Extension

Weighted Tricep Extension
  • Finally, the weighted tricep extension has you using a pair of dumbbells as you are lying on your back on top of the exercise ball.

  • This tricep exercise can prove quite tricky but if done correctly can improve your core balance since it exercises stabilizing muscles located in your trunk and in your legs.
